wheeeeeeeee

we were excited to have allan's sister, joann, come to visit us this weekend! we drove up to the mountains for a quick sledding trip. it was adventurous (our truck fishtailed, but allan did an awesome job steering and keeping us from serious danger), cold (it was about 18 degrees when we got there and 8 degrees when we left), and fun (our friends brady, shannon, and carter came with us and we all had a blast zooming down the hill on our sleds). we decided to wrap up our day when the boys decided they'd had enough. now you know who calls the shots around here.

hello 2007!

have you wondered how parents of a toddler who has a bedtime of 8 o'clock spend their new year's eve? well, this is how...

First Night is an arts and culture event that's put on in various cities all over the u.s. to celebrate new year's. we are lucky to have a first night program in our community. that's where we headed on the night of new year's eve. it was incredibly affordable and so much fun! lucas had a blast with carter at the kids' part of the event where he jumped around in a big inflatable bouncer for the first time, got his face painted (it's supposed to be a frog, in case you can't tell), slid down an enormous inflatable slide, climbed a rock wall, and starred in a video! (we'll try to get the video out here so you can see him in action.) after first night, we rang in the new year with sparkling cider, sparklers, poppers, and, of course, good friends. happy new year!

to us a savior is born

we enjoyed an intimate christmas celebration this year, starting with christmas morning with just the three of us. christmas morning we woke up and had a nice breakfast together, then we read the account of Jesus' birth in Luke. it's a tradition that we intend to uphold in future years. after breakfast, we spent some time opening gifts and remembering how much God has blessed us with. in the evening, we went and had christmas dinner at the wangs and did more celebrating. after singing happy birthday to Jesus, we cut into a very yummy ice cream cake that we enjoyed with a nice cup of homemade hot chocolate and peppermint whip cream. yum! =9 the night ended with a fun time had by all on the new nintendo wii system. that wraps up our christmas celebration this year!
