memorial day weekend

we had a busy memorial day weekend this year. it started with a friend's wedding in wenatchee. my aunt very kindly watched lucas for us while the three of us (allan, emma, and i) went to the wedding with our friends. lucas had a great time playing and spending the night with his cousins! emma did fairly well in the car. she only got fussy when she needed to eat. the wedding was at a beautiful location called ohme gardens in wenatchee, wa. if you are ever in that area, you should definitely go visit.

we also celebrated lucas' friend's birthday at an ice cream parlor. lucas had a great time seeing his little friends and eating ice cream.

we wrapped up our weekend playing a little tennis. we haven't played tennis in years, and i've been waiting to get well enough to play after having emma. it was so fun! i'm a little (well, okay, a lot) slower than i used to be. i have to admit, it made me realize that i've gotten older and need to get into better shape. lucas and carter had a great time running around with their tennis rackets and chasing after the tennis balls. i want to go play again soon.

brother and sister

lucas loves to play with his little sister. well, "playing" at this stage really just means lucas throwing balls at emma expecting her to catch them, or lucas pushing emma's swing so hard that she is on the verge of flying out of her seat. well, today, lucas did some gentle playing with his little sister, per the request of his mom. even still, he wore out his little sister. sweet times.

a little relaxation

my sister came and visited us back in february. we didn't do much - she said she really just wanted to spend time with lucas. well, we did plenty of that and it was great! we went and ran errands together, shopped together, and simply hung out at home together. there was one afternoon when it was raining and windy outside. we had just finished lunch and had headed back into the car when allan and i realized that we were both already inside of the car (nice and dry) with our seat belts on and ready to go, and vicky was the one who was still outside (wet and cold) hovering over lucas' car seat strapping him in. sigh...it was great having her visit. :)
