lucas van gogh

lucas went over to bethany's and ethan's house today to do a little fingerpainting. it started as just "finger" painting, but progressed into much more!

first steps

allan and i were sitting in a circle with frank and carolyn just talking today and, without any warning, there comes lucas cruising through our circle all by himself. we looked at each other, surprised, and realized it was the first time he pulled himself up onto an object and let go to take his first steps!

stairmaster...or master of the stairs?

guess what i found lucas doing today? he climbed the stairs up to our bonus room! he got all the way to the top all by himself, which was pretty amazing. he hasn't learned how to climb back down yet. he actually seems to be a little afraid of coming down, so that's good. but i bet that won't last long so i better get the baby gate out just in case.

steppin' out wobble style!

well, lucas has been walking up a storm these last couple of months...holding onto our fingers! he has yet to walk on his own, but he came five steps closer today. lucas took about five steps on his own tonight for the first time! it happened after dinner. i steadied lucas in front of me with allan just a few feet away. then, i let go and lucas wobbled on his own over to allan. he surprised us both! i'm really looking forward to him being able to walk on his own (my back kills me when i have to lean over and walk with him for too long, even though i'm short and don't actually have to lean over that much). i have been warned, though, that the skill of walking brings all kinds of new troubles. :P we'll see very soon. (i'll try to post a clip of lucas "steppin' out" for you to see...it's so cute.)

leprechaun run

allan and lucas entered their first "race" together today! they joined their buddies, brady and carter, to participate in their first 5K. they crossed the finish line in just under 50 minutes (they walked it). lucas was lucky race number 131. after the race, they went to visit bethany and ethan and took their first schoolbus ride...ethan was the driver!

a new trick

lucas learned how to making "clicking" noises with his tongue! (the really loud one is me. he only does it a few times
at the beginning of the clip.)
