this week, part of lucas' language arts assignment involved journaling. he had to, without any help from me, write a journal entry describing his thoughts or feelings about something that happened to him recently, that he's looking forward to, or that he observed, etc. the assignment was only to write a journal entry. he didn't need to worry about spelling, punctuation, grammar, or penmanship (like i said, no help from me was allowed). it was a "creative expression" assignment only, and this is what he wrote...
can you decipher it? i thought it was the cutest thing ever when i read it and realized what he had written, especially his spelling of the words. kids are so darn cute!
i LOVE my sweet boy lucas and i love doing school with him at home. it started out a little rocky, but i am thoroughly enjoying homeschooling and really look forward to it everyday. it is so exciting to see lucas learn and retain the things that i teach him. the really neat part is that i am able to reinforce the things that he is learning throughout the day or week as we are doing our normal/natural things together because i know exactly what he is learning; i am the one who is teaching it to him. i wasn't sure how homeschooling was going to go this year, but i have been blessed by it and we are only in our seventh week!

OMG...that put a huge smile on my face yolanda...at first i was like "huh?" then i looked a little closer and said "aw...so cute!" he has really nice penmanship btw!! glad to hear things are going so well with homeschooling! i don't know how you (and my other homeschooling moms) do it!!!
Love it! And you are doing a fantastic job! I've been homeschooling for 7 years now and loving every minute of it. It's awesome to see how our kids learn, what they learn and that we are the ones teaching them. The Lord is a big part of it and all the glory is His! Enjoy and any time you want to get together give me a call 851-4070!
Cristi Gonzales!
aw, that is so sweet! it's wonderful that homeschooling is working out beautifully for you and lucas. he is such a sweet little boy! do you think you'll do that for emma and elise too?
prettiest school teacher i've ever seen. : O
I could tell what it said right away. Emerging literacy is very interesting. Allan, I think Dan may take offense.
allan thought it said, "church is coming up," but it actually says, "trick-or-treat is coming up." i love to see how he sounds out words!
cristi, i can't believe it's been 7 years already...way to go!
helen, i am taking it one day at a time. i haven't done anything with emma, but will probably try it and see how it goes with two!
leah, i agree with you, emerging literacy is VERY interesting. i'll let allan take it up with dan. :)
